The word Blausee literally means Blue Lake. One look at the clear blue waters of Blausee and you will know why the name stuck. The waters are clear, transparent blue, like some finely cut diamond from Guntur. The blue lake is endowed with almost magical and mythical appearance. Surrounding the clear blue waters of the lake is an enchanting and yet strangely romantic forest. An ideal location for a quick getaway from the maddening city life, this lake with its unique blue color is located in Bernese Oberland, very close to the Kander River. There is a small Grand Hotel that has 17 rooms and two restaurants.

This crystal clear water has its source somewhere subterranean. This blue lake is located right in the middle of a 20 hectare nature park. It was created due to a natural rock slide. This is an ideal family vacation destination. There are arrangements for picnic, a family get together, even a bonfire if you care for one. For those on a romantic trip, there’s the romantic walkways to simply get away from everything.
Getting In
You can drive all the way to Blausee. The approach road leads to a large parking lot with ample room for parking. Alternatively you can catch the train all the way to Frutigen or Kanderstega and from there take the bus to Blausee.
Blausee – Things to do
One of the most popular to-do’s when at Blausee is to ride the glass-bottom boat. The almost transparent waters of the lake and the rich underwater life can be an engrossing way to spend an hour or two. Kids will love the experience too, as will they the large playgrounds that lay within the park.
Every October a fishing event is organized by the Blausee lake nature park. If you like fishing travel during this time of the year to enjoy some trout fishing. This is the only time of the year when you can practice your fishing skills at this beautiful lake.

Finally, the Little Blausee museum is a nice place to spend some time. There is a small shop selling organic trout products. Nice place to buy something to remember the blue lake when you are back to reality.
