Sydney is the oldest and also the largest city of Australia. One of the most happening places south of the equator and the capital of New South Wales, Sydney is a place that is oozing with fun things to do and is one of the best places to travel to for a vacation. Some of the best beaches in the whole of the southern hemisphere are around the vicinity of this city. Then again this city has some of the best preserved colonial buildings in this part of the world. It is also wine country. Some of the best wines in the world are made in this part of the world.
The City Center: St Mary’s Cathedral – Sydney Opera House – Sydney Harbor Bridge
This is a challenge as there is so much to see and experience. You have to spend at least a week to be able to appreciate what the city has to offer. The City Centre is a good place to start. You will find a number of museums here which will reflect the history of the place.
Two of the must-see of the city are the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The latter being one of the most easily recognizable iconic buildings in the world. You can also catch a ferry ride and see the city from the sea.
The Sydney Tower happens to be the tallest structure in the city and has a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal while admiring the views.
St Mary’s Cathedral is also among the places to visit in the city center.
If you are fan of Broadway shows, you may also find a musical show in the city.
Half day activities from Sydney: Manly, Blue mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park
Some of the animals you could spot in Sydney Nationall parks include kangaroos, wallabies, Opossums and a variety of birds and bats. Apart from the national parks you could also head out to the Taronga Zoo in the Lower North Shore or the Wild Life Sydney Zoo in Darling Harbor. If you are at the Darling Harbor don’t forget to see the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium.
The Darling Harbor itself is a great place to hang out. It has everything for you and your family. Shopping areas, entertainment areas and things to see and explore.
Head out to the beach to let off some steam. The world famous Bondi beach is a much visit. One of the most famous beaches in Australia it is visited by thousands of tourists and locals every year.
Other trips that I did and enjoyed are the trips to the Blue Montains, Featherdale Wildlife Park and Manly beach.I did the Blue Montains and the Featherdale Wildlife Park the same day via a tour bought from the tourism information office in the city center. I let the photos below describes those places. At the Featherdale Wildlife Park, you can take a photo of you touching a Koala.
Sydney is a complete experience package and one destination that you could simply not ignore if you are travelling Down Under. It is certainly not a weekend destination, at least not for first time visitors. You have to spend at least a week to be able to experience the best that the city has to offer. But it will be time well spent as you are guaranteed to take home wonderful memories of your stay.
